In this week’s much anticipated keynote at ISS London, Chris Sherman and Andy Atkins-Krüger were talking to co-founder and CTO of Yandex, Ilya Segalovich, about everything from user privacy to search personalisation and Yandex’s international operations and ambitions.

Ford Is Developing "Global Products" With India As Reference Point


Will history repeat itself? You could be forgiven for asking yourself that question when reading about Ford's plans to develop uniform global products with India as the reference point. Ford is looking to replicate what it is doing in India and take some of its car models for the Indian market to similar markets like Brazil and China; this despite having already committed their fair share of costly global marketing blunders, such as the launch of the “Pinto” model in Brazil, which saw dismal sales due to the car’s rather unfortunate name (Pinto is Brazilian slang for tiny male genitals).




The Rising Global Ambitions Of China's Tech Giants


China’s most popular mobile browser, UCWeb, recently announced an international offensive in which the company is planning to invest RMB 3 billion ($488 million) over the next three years in an attempt to gain a similarly dominant position in vast emerging markets such as India, Russia, Brazil, Vietnam and Indonesia.
The ambitious bet follows growing speculation from analysts that Chinese internet giants will have to look toward foreign shores to keep up past years’ exponential growth rates. The question now is whether other leading tech players such as Baidu, Tencent and Alibaba soon will follow suit with full-blown international market entries?
 



International Mobile SEO - Aleyda Solis @ ISS London


Aleyda Solis of SEER Interactive spoke at the International Search Summit in London this week and won the speaker medallion for her session on international mobile SEO. Louis Venter, blogger at State of Search, has done a recap of Aleyda's session and focuses primarily on the pros and cons of the different overarching structures (e.g. Responsive Design/Dynamic Serving/Parallel Mobile Website).
